What happens to your estimate, step by step
MoveCheck is a review, not a search engine and not a marketplace. Here is exactly what it does with the document you upload, and what it will not claim.
1. You answer six short questions
Where you are moving from and to, whether anyone came to survey your belongings, whether a deposit was asked for and how much. These are facts the paperwork often leaves out, and several federal protections depend on them. Nothing here identifies you.
2. You upload one estimate
A PDF or a photo. Scanned and handwritten paperwork is expected — most bills of lading are scans. Your file is stored privately, used only for your analysis, and deleted as soon as your report is saved.
One report covers one estimate or moving contract from one company, including every page and any terms attached to it. If you are weighing up two movers, run a separate check on each: MoveCheck does not merge paperwork from different companies, and keeping them apart is what lets every conclusion stay traceable to the document it came from.
3. We read the document and check the company
The document is transcribed and its figures and terms are recorded as printed. The USDOT or MC number is looked up in FMCSA’s official records — operating authority, household-goods authority, insurance, broker bond.
Every conclusion you read is then produced by a fixed set of rules written against the federal household-goods regulations, not by a language model deciding what seems concerning. The model reads and quotes; the rules decide what you are told.
4. Each finding is checked back against your document
Before a finding reaches your report, the exact sentence it relies on has to be located in your own paperwork. A finding whose supporting text cannot be found is not shown as established — it is listed as unconfirmed, with the page for you to check yourself.
If too little of the document could be read to be worth paying for, we say so and do not charge you.
What it costs
The company verification and any serious registration problem are free and shown in full before you decide anything. The full report is $29, once. There is no account, no subscription, and no upsell afterwards.
What MoveCheck will not tell you
- Whether a company is a scam. We report what the records and your documents say.
- What your move should cost. We do not price moves or compare you to averages.
- Which mover to hire. We take no money from movers, and we do not recommend any.
- Anything that counts as legal advice.
A review covers only the documents you upload. A term that does not appear in them cannot appear in your report, so a mover’s verbal promise, or a page you did not send us, is outside what we can check.
MoveCheck currently covers U.S. interstate household-goods moves. Moves within a single state are regulated by that state, not by FMCSA, and are outside what we can check.
