About The Move Report
An independent review service for U.S. interstate moving estimates, paid for by the people who read the reports.
What this is
The Move Report reviews the moving estimate a company sent you and explains what it commits you to: the company’s federal record, the type of estimate, the valuation your belongings would have, and the charges the document names without pricing.
You upload one estimate or moving contract. The free scan, including the company check, costs nothing. The full report is $29, once, with no account and no subscription.
Why it exists
An interstate move can cost thousands of dollars, but the paperwork can make it difficult to tell what you’re agreeing to, who you’re actually hiring, and which charges could change what you pay.
Estimate types, valuation terms, deposits, cancellation rules and additional-charge schedules are things most people meet exactly once, under time pressure, while comparing quotes. That document should be understandable before someone signs it.
How we are paid, and by whom
By the person reading the report, and by nobody else. We take no commissions, referral fees, or advertising from moving companies or brokers.
We are not a moving company, a broker, or a lead generator. Your move is never sold as a lead, your estimate is never shared with movers, and no mover is given your details. Uploaded documents are deleted within 30 days.
Because you are the customer rather than the product, the report has no reason to recommend anyone. It does not.
How the review is produced
Every report rests on two things: your own document, and public federal records. Findings about your paperwork quote the sentence they come from, so you can check each one against the document in front of you rather than taking our word for it.
The review is automated and no human reads your report before you do. What that means in practice, stage by stage, is set out on how it works.
Our sources
Company information is checked against official FMCSA records through the agency’s public developer API, covering available federal registration and operating-authority information. Rules that apply to interstate household-goods moves are cited to the Electronic Code of Federal Regulations.
The Move Report is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or certified by FMCSA or the U.S. Department of Transportation. Federal records can be incomplete or out of date, and a report says so where a check could not be completed.
What we do not do
We do not recommend, rank, or vet moving companies. We do not tell you whether a company is trustworthy or call one a scam. We do not provide legal advice, and we do not guarantee savings or that problems will be found. A report describes what your paperwork says and what the federal record shows, so that you can decide.
